Imphal, September 10 2026:
The Campaign for Just and Fair Delimitation (JFD) has announced that it will begin restricting Government employees from attending their offices from tomorrow.
Addressing the media at Soibam Leikai today, JFD convenor Jeetendra Ningomba said the protest would be launched in accordance with a resolution adopted on the last day of the Assembly session.
According to him, the JFD had resolved to start closing Government offices from September 10 if the State Government fails to mount pressure on the Centre to update the National Register of Citizens (NRC), with 1951 as the base year.
Appealing to Government employees to support the movement and refrain from attending their offices, Jeetendra said the JFD would paste posters bearing slogans such as "No NRC, No Census" and "Update NRC with 1951 as the base year".
He said the agitation would not cover healthcare, water supply, schools, fire services, postal services, banks and other emergency services.
Jeetendra further said the JFD would launch a more intensified agitation if its demand for updating the NRC before the Census is not entertained.
