Imphal, September 10 2026: Apparently not happy with the way the State Government and the Central Government have been handling the case of the brutal murder of six Konsakhul villagers and the dismembering of their bodies, the Naga legislators may withdraw from the Yumnam Khemchand Government.

Demanding justice for the spine-chilling and barbaric murder, the United Naga Council has intensified its indefinite inter-district economic blockade with effect from 1 am of September 9 .

Notably, 18 villagers of Konsakhul were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei Kuki village on May 13, 2026 .

Naga MLAs may withdraw from Govt

Even as 12 villagers were released, six men were held hostage for several days before they were found murdered on June 10, 2026 with their bodies cut to pieces.

For the last three months, the Naga Legislators' Forum has been demanding justice for the inhuman murder, removal of Nemcha Kipgen from the post of Deputy Chief Minister, initiation of concrete legal action against KNF-P leader Thangboi Kipgen and abrogation of Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with Kuki militant groups.

So far, none of these demands have been fulfilled and there is little hope of achieving any of these demands in the coming days, sources said.

According to the sources, the Naga CSOs and public have been demanding befitting action against all those people who committed and were involved in the gruesome murder, not against all Kuki people.

The sources also questioned what is holding back the Government from taking necessary action against the culprits of the inhuman murder.

Alleging that Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen's husband Thangboi Kipgen is the prime accused in the gruesome murder of the six Naga hostages, all nine MLAs of the Naga Legislators' Forum stayed from the last sitting of the Assembly session which concluded on September 7 maintaining that they would not attend the session if Nemcha Kipgen attended it either physically or virtually.

Incidentally, Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho (NPF) is a member of the Naga Legislators' Forum.

Other members of the forum are Dinganglung Gangmei (BJP), SS Olish (BJP), Leishiyo Keishing (NPF), Ram Muivah (NPF), Khashim Vashum (NPF), Awangbow Newmai (NPF), Janghemlung Panmei (NPP) and J Kumo Sha (Independent) , After staying away from the last sitting of the State Assembly session in accordance with a collective decision, the forum has also deliberated on what their next course of action should be. During the meeting, all the members of the forum expressed their willingness to withdraw from the BJP Government led by Yumnam Khemchand, said the sources.

However, the Naga Legislators' Forum has not yet adopted a concrete decision on when they should withdraw from the Khemchand Government.

The Naga MLAs may wait and watch for some time but they may withdraw from the Khemchand Government any time, said the sources.
