Imphal, January 19 2024: WYC-Wangkhem and KCC-Kongba sealed their places in the semi-finals of the 4th MNCA Luwangpokpa Trophy with victories respectively over YWC-Lanthabal and YUCC-Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai.

At Lairenjam Public Ground, WYC won the toss and opted to bat first before bundling out for 106 runs in 18.5 overs.

But the total proved well enough for the team as medium pacer Ruhit Nongmaithem ran through YWC-L's line up to secure a 24 run victory in 18.2 overs.

WYC will meet MPSC in the first semi-final clash tomorrow at Lairenjam Public Ground.

WYC had a stuttering start to their innings and were reduced to 11/4 in 2.5 overs as Maibam Subash bowled out W Shamungou 4 and W Laksmon 0 in the second over before Yumnam Athouba dismissed Mangi Gotimayum and Borish Khomdram on ducks in the third over.

The slump for WYC continued as they lost Laishram Rajesh to Maibam Subash (3/15 in 4 overs) in the fourth over as the scoreboard read 16 but S Herokumar and Ruhit Nongmaithem forged a notable 55-run partnership for the 6th wicket.

The partnership was broken by Prasantamani by removing S Herokumar on 38 in the 3rd delivery of the 13th over.

Prasantamani then removed Ruhit on 28 and Netrajit on a two-ball duck, both in the 15th over to make it 81/8 in 14.5 overs and completed his haul of three wickets (3/20 in 4 overs) .

Ngangbam Bishwash then took the honour to undone Biteshwor 15 and Hijam Prakash 1 to limit WYC to 106 runs in 18.5 overs and finished with the bowling figures of 2/25 in 3.5 overs.

Chasing 107 for the win, YWC-L too had a sloppy start as Thoudam Roshankumar removed H Manikanta 7 for the first wicket in the second over before Mangi Gotimayum removed Seram Robinson on 16 and Ngangbam Bishwash on 6 to reduce them to 41/3 in 7.4 overs.

W Laksmon inflicted further damage on YWC-L by removing S Robinson on 7 for the fourth wicket before Ruhit Nongmaithem bowled out Ng Bikramjit on 22 and Pukhrambam Prasantamani on duck to make it 63/6 in 5 overs.

Wangkhem Laksmon then removed Maibam Subash 1 to complete his two wicket haul (2/13 in 4 overs) before Y Vivek got run out on 10 and Ruhit Nongmaithem collected the scalps of Ngangbam Bingson 7 and Y Chingkhei Nganba 0 to complete his four wicket haul (4/6 in 3.2 overs) and bowl out YWC-L for 82 in 18.2 overs.

Ruhit Nongmaithem was adjudged man of the match.

Elsewhere at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College ground, KCC defeated YUCC by 2 wickets thanks to an allround performance from Nameirakpam Arbin to set up a semi-final date with UCC-Uripok Kangchup road tomorrow at today's venue.

KCC opted to field first and restricted YUCC to 101 all out in 20 overs and cruised to winning 105 runs in 19.4 overs courtesy of Nameirakpam Arbin 32, Tayenjam Tomba 15 not out, Nongmaithem Dijaraj 15 and Keisham Mranojit 12 .

W Lenin 21, Khundrakpam Punshiba 15, Ningthoujam Thoiba 14, Ningthoujam Rahulkumar 11 and Shyam 10 managed double digit scores in YUCC innings which saw Singthoi Nandeibam (3/19), Nameirakpam Arbin (2/15), Wahengbam Somorjit (2/7) and Yumnam Sheiteendra (2/18) sharing 9 wickets among them.

For YUCC, Devraj Nongthombam returned with the best figures of 3/11 as Khundrakpam Punshiba and Somraj Laishram picked two wickets apiece.

N Arbin was eventually adjudged man of the match.
