Contractors plea for bills sans deduction

Imphal, April 10 2024: While noting that the PIU has instructed all contractors to deduct 10 per cent extra from the conventional deduction, All Tribal Contractors' Association, Manipur has said that the move is uncalled for.

In a release, Association secretary Ringo Haorei pointed out hardships faced by the workers engaged in construction works in the hill regions of the state owing to bad road conditions and logistics problems consequently entailing expenditures not incorporated in the work agreement.

The secretary then appealed to authorities concerned not to extract extra deduction on members of the Association apart from the departmental miscellaneous.
