Moreh, April 10 2024:
Eastern Maring CSOs have appealed to the concerned Kuki organisations to rein in Kuki Defence Force's alleged collection of taxes from businessmen in Sita and Samukom village under Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal district.
The taxes were reportedly collected from people involved in cattle, timber and other businesses from the Eastern Maring area on the "baseless claim" that they are supplying goods and other commodities to the Meitei community.
The CSOs also clarified that the businesses are carried out by Maring Naga, Muslims and other Naga tribes and urged the Kuki Defence Force to refrain from making false allegations, which may lead to volatile situations in the area.
In addition, the Rilram Area Maring Organisation (RAMO) .
has also denied the allegation of supplying goods to Meiteis and further expressed apprehension that the spread of such false "propaganda" may bring hatred among the communities of Kuki and Nagas at large and even the Muslim community in the future.
