Bank 'looter' remanded to police custody

Laishram Monarch Grace, senior assistant of SBI Bishnupur who was arrested by Delhi Police Crime branch after he vanished with cash of around Rs 2 crore and gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh from the SBI Bishnupur branch, has been remanded to police custody for seven days after he was brought back to Imphal from Delhi, on Wednesday.
According to police report, following a complaint report from the Bishnupur SBI branch manager Soibam Romesh at Bishnupur police station stating that Laishram Monarch Grace (41), s/o Laishram Chaoba of Kodompokpi, had vanished along with the cash and gold ornaments, a case was registered on April 2 and investigation conducted.
As part of its investigation, the state police began search for the culprit by coordinating with police of different states.
He was finally arrested by a team of Delhi Crime Branch along with Delhi police and Bishnupur police from Patel Chest Christian Colony, North Delhi on April 5.He was brought here on Tuesday by the Bishnupur Police team from Delhi.
The report further informed that the cash of Rs 2 crore along with gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakhs has not been recovered as of now.
However, the police are taking up all measures to recover it.
