Army conducts sporting events at Chadong village

Imphal, April 10 2024:
Indian Army conducted multiple sporting events at different locations in Manipur.
The Army joined hands with the village authority of Chadong, Ukhrul district, in organising football and volleyball tournaments from April 2-10, 2024 .
The sporting events drew 12 football and 10 volleyball teams.
Army also held a friendly football match with the youth of Kabowakching village in Bishnupur district, said a press release from the Ministry of Defence (Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh) .
The tournament at Chadong is organised every six years on the belief that the village was submerged during the construction of Maphou Dam and later resurfaces after this period, according to the release.
The village's chief, Wun-gnaoyo Kasar and secretary Vanreingam Kashung thanked Indian Army for its support in making the tournament a success, it added.
