NSUI rues Govt engrossed in polls

While terming as misfortune that the people of Manipur .have a government which is according importance to conduct of elections instead of addressing various deficiencies and focussing on development, National Students' Union of India (NSUI), Manipur called for alleviating the sufferings of students.
Addressing a press meet held at Congress Bhawan, here, on Tuesday, NSUI Manipur vice president Thokchom Langgomba expressed concern over subpar existence of colleges and universities in Manipur, particularly in the light of changes being witnessed in the education system all over the world and desired that the government address shortcomings in the education sector.
Further stating that there are many educated but unemployed youths both in the state and the country, he also questioned that the rationale for the BJP government in conducting recruitment drives for various vacant posts in different departments, but keeping the results protractedly pending.
Moreover, despite the government claiming to have been extending assistance to students staying in relief camps, there are many students who are still facing difficulties, the vice president contended, while alleging that the government's claim is misleading and confusing the masses.
Stressing the need for the government to step in, Lang-gomba also suggested reducing the transportation charges for students and urged the government to divert its full attention from the polls, while adding that the Union will continue to monitor for further improvement of situation in the state.
He also extended warm greetings to the people on occasion of NSUI's 54th anniversary.
