Lok Sabha election activities intensify across state

In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, relevant activities were intensified in different areas including training of officials drafted for polling duty.
On Wednesday, polling personnel drafted for polling duty in Pherzawl district underwent second round of training at Churachandpur Government College.
Divided into shifts, the morning shift was conducted for officials drafted for duty within Tipaimukh A/C while the evening shift was devoted to officials for Thanlon A/C .
Meanwhile, the second round of training for all drafted presiding officers and polling officers I, II, & III concluded at DC Office Building (New Block) DC Office complex, Kakching training hall.
During the training, junior BDO Kakching Athokpam Suranjoy, VLW-BDO Kakching Moirangthem Medhajit, SDC Waikhong/AERO Oinam Poreingamba Khumancha, Langmeidong CD Block Aribam Bijen Sharma, SDC HQ Kakching Thangjam Sangeeta and LDC SDO Kakching Waikhom Samananda attended as resource person.
Bishnupur District Election Office also conducted the second phase of training for polling personnel appointed as presiding Officers, 1, 2 and 3 for special polling stations of the district at the Panchayat resource centre inside the premises of mini secretariat complex.
Similarly, for Senapati district the second round of polling personnel began on Tuesday at DRDA Conference Hall, Multi-purpose Hall, Training Hall-1, and Training Hall-2, Senapati.
With 10 days left for the first phase voting to the 18th Lok Sabha Elections - 2024 on April 19, the third round of training for the polling personnel commenced at the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council (SH-ADC), Kangpokpi District.
During the training, the roles of each Polling Officer was briefed including familiarising them with the election machinery, process of providing periodic report, marking the elector roll, prevention of fraudulent activities such as casting of multiple votes, importance of marking indelible ink, among others.
As the countdown for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 begins where the four Assembly segments of Churachandpur district are going to the polls, the district, under the auspices of District Election Officer (DEO/DC) is bustling with election activities.
The commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) machines for four Assembly segments of Churachandpur district in II- Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency which began on April-5 at mini-secretariat complex, Tuibong completed on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, with the attempt to impart education to voters about the importance of enrolment and participation in electoral process and encouraging all eligible voters to come out and cast their valuable vote on the poll day, tribal fashion show for school children was held as part of SVEEP Plan 2.0 under the supervision of SVEEP Nodal Officer Vidhyamari Sridar at district training centre Tuibong, Churachandpur.
With the completion of commissioning of EVM and VVPATs on Wednesday, the strong room where EVM machines were kept was sealed in the presence of political parties' representatives, district election officer, AROs and other officials.
On the other hand, General Observer of II- Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency Ujjwal Kumar visited Senapati district on Wednesday in connection with the ensuing General Election to Lok Sabha 2024.The General Observer took stock of the poll preparation for Lok Sabha 2024 election in the district and visited three polling stations at Katomei, Taphou Pudunamei and Taphou Naga.
At the Mini Secretariat Complex, the observer conducted on the spot inspection of the strong rooms.
Later, he also visited the ongoing second round of training for polling personnel at Multi-Purpose Hall.
