Lok Sabha Polls: Training for polling officers intensifies

The District Election Office of Bishnupur has conducted the second phase of training for polling personnel appointed as Presiding Officers, PO-1, PO-2 and PO-3 for special polling stations of the district in connection with the ensuing 18th Lok Sabha Elections, 2024.Aimed at ensuring a smooth and efficient electoral process, the training was divided into two sessions morning and evening for the Inner and Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituencies.
The sessions were held at the Panchayat Resource Centre within the Mini Secretariat Complex.
A total of 112 polling personnel, under the expert guidance of Rishikanta Loitongbam, MCS and Bhungba Maibam Khuman, MCS, engaged in an intensive program that covered the roles and responsibilities expected of them during the election.
Meanwhile, a training program was also held for officials appointed as Micro Observers for Critical and Special Polling stations in respect of Bishnupur district at the DC Conference Hall.
Altogether, 32 officials were present at the training.
Kakching
The second round of training for all drafted Presiding Officers and Polling Officers I, II, & III in connection with the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, 2024 successfully concluded today.
The second round of training started on April 8 and was held at the Training Hall at DC Office Building (New Block) DC Office Complex, Kakching.
During the training, Athokpam Suranjoy, Junior BDO Kakching; Moirangthem Medhajit, VLW-BDO Kakching; Oinam Poreingamba Khumancha, SDC Waikhong/AERO; Aribam Bijen Shanna OA, Langmeidong CD Block, Thangjam Sangeeta, SDC HQ Kakching and Waikhom Samananda, LDC SDO Kakching attended as the resource persons.
The training sessions stressed on effective handling of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) as well as the duties of Presiding Officers and Polling Officers on Pre-Poll, Poll Day, and Post Poll Day.
Guidance was also provided on the documentation process required on Poll Day and the use of mobile applications like e- Atlas and Poll Star.
Books on EVM Manual, handbook, and Do's and Don'ts for Presiding Officers were also handed over to the concerned POs.
Pherzawl
With the 2024 General Election just round the corner, officials drafted for polling duty in Pherzawl district underwent the second round of training at Churachandpur Govt College today.
Around 260 polling personnel, including the reserved pool, to be deployed as Presiding Officers and Polling Officers in the two assembly segments of the district attended the training.
Divided into shifts, the morning shift was conducted for officials drafted in for poll duty within Tipaimukh Assembly Constituency while the evening shift was devoted to polling officials for Thanlon Assembly Constituency.
