Imphal, April 10 2024:
Denouncing both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress of engaging in dirty politics to defame its candidate, Republican Party of India (RPI) Athawale State Unit remarked that the candidate whom both parties are most concerned about is RPI (A) candidate Maheshwar Thounaojam.
Addressing a press meet at the State unit's Keishampat office on Tuesday, RPI-A Manipur president Laitonjam Haridas termed as extremely unfortunate that BJP and Congress are scheming to suppress Maheshwar out of jealously of being unable to perform what he (Maheshwar) has been doing for the people.
While asserting that no attempt to spread misinformation about Maheshwar whether by circulating rumours or pamphlets' will be successful, he condemned both Congress and BJP for trying to befool the people when their MLAs, ministers and MPs failed to do anything about the conflict which has been raging for over 11 months.
Haridas then said that Congress' ex-chief minister Okram Ibobi's statements against Maheshwar indicate his and also BJP's fear of Maheshwar winning the polls and exposing all their wrongdoings.
