Demanding that the said video be deleted immediately, the joint release further stated that such discriminatory acts, not only against the Imphal East DC, but also against women community should not be repeated in future failing which legal actions would be initiated.
Meanwhile, Meira Paibi groups of Naharup, Imphal East have demanded clarification over defamatory and derogatory posts about mothers of Manipur on social media platforms.
On Wednesday, Naharup Mayai Leikai Meira Paibi, Naharup Huirem Leikai Women Welfare Development Association, Naharup Pangong Makhong Women Welfare Association, Naharup Wangma Chaokhat Thourang Nupi Lup, Naharup Awang Leikai Women Development Association and Wakha Women Development Association staged a sit-in protest, condemning the posts made by some social media influencers and users, defaming and mocking Meetei women.
Speaking on the sidelines, Naharup Pangong Makhong Women Welfare Association president Khongbantabam Puinabati explained that CM Biren has been the only chief minister of the state who is not afraid to work closely with the people.
Since he became CM, he has met the mothers and Meira Paibis of the state on multiple occasions, with regard to issues plaguing the state.
While there is some dissatisfaction with regard to the non-resolution of the conflict, which has been going on for over ten months, it is understandable that the public is not privy to some information.
Puinabati continued that recently, the CM requested a consult with the mothers with regard to the prevailing situation and as such, mothers from various locations arrived at the CM Bungalow to the meet the CM.
During the meeting, the CM made it clear on the present status of the state, forest conservation efforts, mass poppy plantation, and emergence of new villages and how the conflict truly began.
The mothers also informed the CM regarding non-distribution of rice for four months, shortage of water and other issues, to which he assured and also took action immediately.
As such, it would not be an exaggeration to appreciate the kind of chief minister he is, she asserted.
Unfortunately, the efforts of the mothers and the womenfolk have been wrongly portrayed as requesting money for vote on various social media platforms.
Some have even gone and posted hurtful, defamatory comments.
Thus, she demanded all concerned to stop such uncivilised acts immediately and for all those who made the posts to clarify and apologise to the mothers.
