SFs nab man, recover cash, bomb, ammos

Imphal, April 10 2024:
A combined team of Ukhrul district police and 35 Assam Rifles apprehended a man along with huge cache of arms and ammunition and Rs 13,11,130 cash.
The arrested person has been identified as Nganingmi Vashum (42) of New Tusom village, Ukhrul.
According to police, a joint operation was conducted by the combined force on the intervening night of April 9 and 10 leading to the arrest of Nganingmi Vashum and recovery of cash of Rs 13,11,130, one 9mm Carbine machine gun and one magazine, 9mm ball ammunition, 37 live rounds, one pistol with magazine, one Chinese hand grenade, 40 rounds of 5.56 mm INSAS ammunition, 15 rounds for .22 mm ammunition, one round 7.62 AK-47 ammunition, three fired cartridges of 7.62 SLR, three assault rifle sling, one 12 Gauge Shotgun, 110 rounds of Shotgun, 13 fired cartridges of shotgun and two mobile phones.
An FIR has been registered in this regard for necessary action, it added.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Kangpokpi district police and 14 Assam Rifles conducted search operation at North Changoubung village under Kangpokpi Police Station and recovered some ammunition including a bomb.
According to a police report, the search operation was carried out from 12.05 pm till 2.55 pm Wednesday.
During the operation, the team recovered one Baofeng (walkie talkie) with charger, one each magazine of 5.56mm Insas Rifle, 36 hand grenade (defected) and magazine of 9mm pistol, two rounds of 9mm pistol, and 10 rounds each of 5.56mm and 7.65mm .
