Sit-ins demand Kuldiep's exit, condemn Moreh violence

Kakching, January 19 2024:
Demanding removal of security advisor Kuldiep Singh and handing over of chairmanship of the Unified Command to the CM immediately, Meira Paibis of Pallel staged sit-in protest on Friday at Pallel Bazar.
The protest, which was jointly organised by Ching Tam Apunba Nupi Lup Pallel and Pallel Meira Paibi Apunba Lup also demanded deployment of adequate number of personnel of state forces in Moreh and non-release of Kuki militants arrested in connection with the killing of SDPO Anand.
They also raised slogans in support of state forces, territorial integrity of Manipur, etc., during the protest.
Meanwhile, along with imposing shut down of shops and establishments, sit-in protest was held at Kakching bazar on Thursday demanding that the state government rush in reinforcement to Moreh border town and befitting punishment to the two Kukis arrested by the Manipur police commandos in connection with the killing of SDPO Anand.
The sit-in organised jointly by Kakching Keithel Apunba Ima Lup and Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association was attended by women vendors and shopkeepers as well as people from across Kakching.
The protestors demanded that two Kukis arrested by the police commandos in Moreh should not be released under any circumstances, adequate state forces should be deployed in Moreh and security advisor Kuldiep Singh removed.
They also observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to those who have lost their lives in the on-going violence.
Former Kakching MLA Y Surchandra, MPCC secretary Kshetrimayum Kennedy, Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association president Nongmaithem Sanatomba and others also addressed those gathered at the sit-in.
Meanwhile, in denunciation of the attack by armed Kuki militants in Moreh that martyred two commando personnel and left some injured, shops and establishment and women vendors in Nambol, Bishnupur and Ningthoukhong bazar downed shutters on Thursday.
