Thoubal, July 02 2023: Emphasising that chief minister N Biren should focus on ending the present crisis instead of waiting from direction from centre, Thoubal Nin-gombam Apunba Meira Paibi Lup secretary Irom Shubashini condemned the CM for creating drama over his resignation and scheming to create division amongst meira paibi groups.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a candle light vigil in memory of people who died protecting Meetei villages organised by the Lup at Ningombam Sana Keithel on Saturday, Shubashini observed that if the CM wants to resign he should do it after calling an all-political party meet and consulting with the representatives.

The CM should not repeat what he has done, as such drama is creating confusion and division among people and meira paibi activists, she noted.

Shubashini also claimed that the state government could have resolved the prevailing situation without any help from centre if it has the political will.

The inability of both central and state governments to bring solution raises suspicion on whether there is hidden agenda behind it, she maintained.

Shubashini further stressed that the CM before resigning should end the crisis at the earliest.

During the tribute event, meira paibi activists stood beside the Thoubal-MI road holding candles and chanting slogans.
