Imphal, July 02 2023:
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) said it is not a part of chief minister N Biren Singh's peace initiative and asked CM Biren to name any 'Kuki brothers and sisters' he claimed to have reached out as mentioned in an interview to a TV channel.
Clearing confusion and doubt in the wake of CM Biren's interview, the KIM said it was never a party to Biren's peace initiative..
The organisation neither acknowledges any Kuki individuals or organist tions that brokered peace nor will do so against the wishes of the people, the KIM said and urged CM Biren to stop resorting to spreading manufactured narratives, lies and misinformation.
The KIM also warned that any individuals/organisations brokering peace without the knowledge and against the wishes of the Kuki people and KIM shall face the consequences.
Similarly, referring CM Biren Singh's interview to a news agency on Saturday where he said he spoke to "Kuki brothers and sisters", Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) media and publicity Ginza Vualzong clarified that it is not aware of any contact between the CM and CSO groups.
"We maintain our stance that we will not enter into any dialogue with the state government, whose anti-tribal policies and propaganda led to the ethnic violence in the state," Ginza Vualzong affirmed.
