Effigies of Modi, Shah, Biren torched

Denouncing po litical dramas amidst the current restive situation and demanding restoration of normalcy at the earliest, enraged women protestors torched effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister N Biren Singh at Icham Khunou, here, on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters, a protestor urged the state government and authorities concerned to uphold integ rity of Manipur and bring peace at the soonest possible.
Condemning killing of innocent civilians and burning down of properties by suspected armed Kuki militants, the protestor also demanded the government to withdraw the SoO agreement w ith Kuki armed groups and take up effective security measures to protect the civilians.
While condemning the silence of PM Modi even after two months of the violence and failure of Amit Shah to translate his assurance into action, she sought apology by the chief minister for the unite for finding solution to the crisis.
A sit-in protest was also staged at the same venue before set on fire the effigies.
