Sit-ins back integrity call, denounce violence

Kwakeithel Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, the joint body of Meira Paibi of Keisham thong, Naoriya, Sagolband, Patsoi and Kwakeithel staged a sit in protest demanding the protection of Manipur's integrity at Kwakeithel Bazar on Sunday afternoon.
As part of the sit-in, the gathering observed a two-minute silence in honour of those killed during the vi -olence.
Later, various resolu tions were adopted including objection to separate administration, implementation of NRC in Manipur immediate ly, dismantling bunkers and confining Kuki militants to their designated camps as per SoO ground rules, providing adequate security to farmers, resuming academics/schools/ colleges at the earliest, ensuring safe return of displaced persons, for the Prime Minister to visit Manipur soon and help resolve the crisis, for all political parties to go to Delhi and reaffirm the stand of a united Manipur, bring about an amicable solution within 10 days, providing financial support to all those injured in the violence, flushing out Kuki terrorists and safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Members of NCC Alumni Imphal Group, ex-teachers and ex cadets also staged a sit-in protest at Thangmeiband on Sunday.
During the sit-in, the group cautioned of surrendering their certificates'to the Group Commander or ADG if the PM fails to comment on the violence within five days.
Meanwhile, Wangoi Apunba Meira Paibi Lup staged a similar protest at Wangoi Kei-thel on Sunday, demanding stringent action against Kuki terrorists.
On the other hand, Kan-gleipak Women's Welfare Association (KWWA) and Charangpat Mamang Leikai Lai Thongkhong Meira Paibi staged a sit in protest under the aegis of COCOMI at Charangpat Mamang Leikai Lai Thongkhong on Sunday, demanding the withdrawal of SoO with Kuki militants.
KWWA and Nepra Company Meira Paibi also staged sit-in at Nepra Company community hall on Sunday.
Meanwhile, condemning failure to end the communal conflict, Wangjing Lamding Apunba Meira Paibi, Wang-jing-Lamding Keithel women vendors and Peace and Integrity, Lamding jointly staged sit-in protest demanding central and state governments to find solution and end the conflict at the earliest.
The protestors held placards inscribing 'Implement NRC
in Manipur', 'Withdraw SoO pact with Kuki militants', 'We want peace', 'We condemn the acts Of state and central government' and 'No separate administration in Manipur' among others.
Meanwhile, demanding deployment of permanent state forces (MR/IRB) in foothills of Sekmai and Lamsang assembly constituencies, many staged sit in demonstrations at over 30 villages of the two constituencies on Sunday.
Organised by local youth and women's groups the sit-ins were staged at Singda Kadangband Part 1 and 2, Lai -renshajik, Lamlongei, Lambal, Nongchup Sanjenbam, Heibo-ngpokpi', Lairenkabi, Phayeng, Tairenpokpi, Sairem Khul, Kachikhul, Karong, Sangaithel, Tharoijam, Lamsang Bazar, Taothong Khunou, Lamdeng Khunou, Taothong Apheibi, Laingamkhul, Akham, Mayang Langjing, Phumlou Siphai, Phumlou, Chaprou, Senjam Khunou, Senjam Chirang, Moibung Khunou, Loitang Leikinthabi, Loitang Khunou, Khurkhul, Sekmai, Kangla tongbi Bazar, Kanto Awang, Kanto Sabal and Kanto Makha.
The protestors held placards inscribed with slogans 'Deploy permanent Manipur state forces (MR/IRB) battalion in foothills of Sekmai and Lamsang A/C', 'No separate administration in Manipur', 'Implement NRC immediately', 'Revoke SoO with Kuki militants' and 'Eradicate narco-terrorism from Manipur' among others.
