Explosives seized at Jiri : PCR

Police Control Room (PCR) has stated that a team of CRPF and Jiribam police who were conducting frisking and checking at Uchathol village detained a man carrying explosive items on a bike bearing Assam number at Uchathol village in Jiribam.
The PCR did not divulge the details of the detained man, such as his identity and his place of residence.
0.722 kg of explosives suspected to be Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil (AMNF), 5.79 m of cordex wire was seized from the possession of the man, it said.
PCR also stated that the situation in most districts of the State is normal even as the situation was tense in some places with sporadic incident of firing/congregation of unruly mob during the last 48 hours.
State police and Central forces conducted search operations in vulnerable and fringe areas in both the hill and valley districts during the last 24 hours, it said.
Five persons who were detained by some villagers in Gwaltabi and Urangpat area under Yaingangpokpi PS, were handed over to the Officer-in-Charge of the police station today after they were rescued by security forces yesterday night, it said.
Around 217 persons were detained by police for violation of curfew at 118 checkpoints installed in different districts.
Checkings at these checkpoints have been intensified round the clock in order to prevent untoward incidents, the PCR said.
Movement of essential items is ensured along National Highway-37, said PCR.
Strict security measures taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.
As many as three arms and 6 bombs were recovered during the last 24 hours, said PCR while appealing to all concerned to return and deposit arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or security forces at the earliest.
