BJP responsible for chaos in state: Ibobi

Imphal, April 07 2024: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Okram Ibobi has alleged that Manipur has been thrown into chaos over the past seven years under the BJP government, while adding democracy has been murdered.

The former chief minister made the statement during an interaction programme between party leaders and Heingang Block Congress members at Congress Bhawan on Sunday.

The programme was attended by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president K Meghachandra, CWC member and ex-dep uty chief minister Gaikhangam, INC's Inner Manipur PC candidate Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, and leaders of allied parties.

Speaking on the occasion, Ibobi contended that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to proclaim India as the mother of democracy', democracy has been murdered in Manipur.

If the BJP government continues any longer, Manipuri society will soon cease to exist.

As such, there is a need to elect someone who can expose the wrongdoings of BJP's faulty governance to the world.

He continued that under the BJP's rule in the centre for 10 years and seven years in Manipur, the state has been thrown into chaos and turmoil.

Instead of rectifying its mistakes, the government continues to blame its predecessor, which is no longer conducive.

The big question is whether democracy will continue, considering the suppression and non-con-duct of elections for local bodies, he remarked.

Instead of holding the elections for local bodies, the government initiated care-taker administrators, he noted while remaking that the trend persists the day will not be far the ruling entity will insist on direct appointment of MLAs instead of conducting the election for the same.

Thus; the former chief minister urged for teaching a lesson to such an anti-democracy and dictatorial government.

Ibobi then said that the upcoming Lok Sabha election holds extreme importance.

The people need to work together to put an end to the BJP government by electing a representative who would have the guts to expose BJP to the world.

As such, he urged the people to seriously ponder about the upcoming polls.
