Absentee voters begin voting

Imphal, April 07 2024:
Electors who are above 85 years of age (AVSC) and those suffering from 40 per cent disability (AVPD) have started voting for the 18th Lok Sabha election through postal ballots today.
Altogether 30 polling teams comprising two polling officials, one micro observer and one videographer each were flagged off by Imphal East Deputy Commissioner Khumanthem Diana from her Porompat office today for 1st round visit to absentee voters.
During the first round visit which would go on for four days from April 7 to April 12 (excluding 9th and 11th April), the polling teams would visit absentee voters residing within Imphal East district and facilitate voting through postal ballots.

Second round visit for the left out absentee voters would be made on April 15 .
Likewise, the first round visit of polling teams to houses of approved lists of eligible absentee voters of Bishnupur district has also begun today.
The first round visit would continue till the 14th of April, with a subsequent round scheduled on April 15 and 16 to cover the left-out voters.
A total of 16 polling teams each comprising two polling officials, a video-grapher, a micro observer, and one-half section of armed security personnel are conducting this house-to-house visit of absentee voters.
The total number of approved eligible absentee voters in respect of Bishnupur district is 1056, which includes 603 senior citizens (AVSC), and 453 persons with disabilities (AVPD), conveyed a press release issued by DIO, Bishnupur.
