Manipuri among three held with drugs in Assam

Imphal, April 07 2024:
A team of BSF assisted by one of its sister agencies intercepted a Tata truck (AS01FCO271) and Alto car (ML056151) and apprehended three drug peddlers with 10 packets (100,000 tablets) of Yaba worth Rs 10 crore in Digarkhal area under Cachar district of Assam in the wee hours on Saturday.
In a release, PRO FTR HQ BSF Mizoram & Cachar informed that acting on input about trafficking of Yaba tablets in a truck coming from Imphal towards Assam's Silchar, the joint team carried out thorough search of the intercepted vehicle and recovered the Yaba tablets found concealed in upper side cabin of the said truck.
The apprehended drug peddlers have been identified as Naorem Singh (23), son of Naorem Jadumani Singh of Torbung Bangla, Manipur; Md Bahar Miah (34), son of Turu Miah and Uttam Sarkar, son of Maniram Sarkar, both from Sepahijala district, Tripura.
The release conveyed that the apprehended trio along with seized Yaba tablets destined for West Bengal and vehicles has been taken into custody
for further legal formalities.
