Imphal, April 07 2024:
Federation of Hao-mee (FoH) has alleged that Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat Laboratory Department is almost non-functional as its test reports are not even trusted by institute's own doctors, who resend the tests to nearby private laboratories for retesting.
In a release, FoH vice president Dr K Heera Kabui claimed that agents of private diagnostic centres are ever present at JNIMS Hospital from casualty to wards to carry out tests, which indicates that the officials of JNIMS administration are endorsing the private parties.
Emphasising that test results determine the fate of patients, FoH questioned why the government and JNIMS authorities are nonchalant about the failure of such an important department.
The release also raised posers on why attendees of patients are made to de liver test samples and collect results from laboratories, as the attendants should be assigned for such duties.
If JNIMS authority cannot ensure its Laboratory Department works properly then it should shut it down or it will lead to fatalities, it cautioned.
FoH further alleged that most government specialist doctors including of JNIMS are engaged in private hospitals consequently making them negligent of their duties in government hospitals.
Action should be taken against authorities who are releasing non-practicing allowances to stich doctors without proper verification, it demanded.
FoH continued that owing to government specialist doctors indulging in private practice many patients in government hospitals are not receiving treatments on time, putting their lives in danger.
If such wrongdoings cannot be corrected than there is no need for JNIMS to function.
Doctors who are interested in working in private hospitals should immediately tender resignations, it suggested while contending that it will soon prepare report of such misconducts with proof and send the same to Medical Council of India (MCI) .
