House visit of absentee voters in Bishnupur begins

Bishnupur, April 07 2024:
To ensure inclusive participation in the democratic process, polling teams have started visiting the houses of eligible absentee voters in the categories of senior citizens who are 85 years and above (AVSC) and persons with disabilities (AVPD) to facilitate issue and receipt of postal ballots in respect of Bishnupur district for the 18th Lok Sabha, 2024, from Sunday.
The first round of visits to houses of approved lists of eligible absentee voters will continue till April 14 with subsequent visits also scheduled for April 15 and 16 to cover the left-out voters.
A total of 16 polling teams each comprising two polling officials, a videographer, a micro observer, and one half section of armed security personnel are conducting the house-to-house visits.
The total number of approved eligible absentee voters in respect of the Bishnupur district is 1056, including 603 senior citizens and 453 PwDs.
Meanwhile, the second round of training for polling personnel appointed as presiding officers-1, 2 and 3 concluded on Sunday.
The two-day training programme was held at Thambal Marik College, Oinam for Nambol and Oinam ACs; PRC Hall Mini Secretariat Complex for Bishnupur AC and CI College, Bishnupur for Moirang, Thanga AC and Kumbi ACs.
Altogether, 1204 polling personnel were present in the training conducted under the supervision of AROs (Nambol and Oinam ACs) S Indrajit Singh, (Bishnupur AC) Rishikanta Loitongbam, (Moirang and Kumbi ACs) M Suranjoy Singh and (Thanga AC) M Suranjoy Singh.
