World Health Day observed widely

As observed across the globe, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Manipur State Branch today celebrated World Health Day at the relief camp opened in Manipur Trade And Expo Centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong on the theme, "My Health, My Right".
It was attended by Family Welfare Services, Director, Dr L Tomcha Khuman; IMA Manipur State Branch president, Dr RK Lelin Singh; IMA Manipur State Branch state secretary, Dr Soram Goutam; IMA Manipur State Branch member, Dr RK Bhameshwar and Relief Camp Committee member Hirom Ningthem as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr L Tomcha said that World Health Day is celebrated every year on April 7 to raise awareness about global health issues and highlight the importance of well-being.
He also lauded the IMA Manipur State Branch for celebrating World Health Day by conducting a free medical camp at the relief camp.
The Director also appealed to all the conflict survivors staying in relief camp to not be discouraged and avail the benefits of the free medical camp.
Free health check up of the conflict survivors staying in the relief camp and presentation of a Street Play on Mental Health were the main highlights of the event.
Moreover, World Health Day was also celebrated today at Jubilee Hall, RIMS, Imphal.
A painting competition was also conducted as part of the observation.
It was participated by about 560 students.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS Imphal, urged all to avoid negligence in health related matters and to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
"Besides providing health care services to the people, organising the Painting competition for school students was a right step to make young minds aware about the importance of World Health Day celebration", he added.
Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal appreciated the Director of RIMS for encouraging the Swachhta Action Plan Team to conduct various Swachhta activities to maintain cleanliness in the campus.
Prof Y Govindaraj Singh, Nodal Officer, Kaya Kalp/SAP, RIMS Hospital and Kh Pampak, Clinical Psychologist, RIMS, Imphal delivered lectures on the topics, "My health, My right", "Hand hygiene and summer illness" and "Stress Management" .
Later, The Director and Medical Superintendent distributed cash awards and certificates to the winners of the painting competition.
Winners of the competition in order of merit for Category I are- Seram Arithoi of Shishu Nishtha Niketan, Seram Jashita of Nongpok Maheikon and Sagolsem Purel Mangang.
For Category II- Angela Heikrujam, Sunaina Saikhom and Pheedam Sinam.
Consolation prizes were also distributed to the students.
The programme was attended by RK Mecolt Singh, Deputy Director (Admn), RIMS, Imphal, Sairem Sarat Singh, CAO/FA, RIMS, Imphal, HODs, nursing officials, faculty members and staff of RIMS, Imphal.
