Imphal, April 07 2024:
While BJP has been working to imple-ment the National Register of Citizens (NRC) across the country, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has openly declared his resolve not to allow any updating of the NRC, stated Chief Minister N Biren.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a Yuva Samme-lan held at Thambal Shang- len, Nityaipat Chuthek today under the aegis of BJP Manipur Pradesh.
N Biren said that people would boycott the Congress party and vote for BJP when they are informed about Congress party's opposition to the NRC.
In Manipur, the ensuing Lok Sabha elections would be held in the midst of a violent crisis.
It is an issue based election and the inherent politics is to save the State and the Nation, he said.

As the first step towards implementation of NRC, identification of illegal immigrants has already started, border fencing has begun and FMR has been withdrawn from the Indo-Myanmar border, Biren said.
While one group has been demanding separate administration, one political party vowed in its election manifesto to remove the BJP Government of Manipur.
There is no difference between the two, he said.
Saying that there is even a possibility of the two conspiring together to challenge the integrity of Manipur, Biren asserted that the people must be wary of such a possibility.
"We will survive as long as we have our homeland.
We will not be able to survive when we don't have a homeland.
Our politics is to save the State and it does not have any personal interests", he said.
Taking advantage of the violent crisis which erupted on May 3 last year, the Congress party made all attempts to defame BJP and humiliate the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister said.
He also recalled that Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the State for three days and took stock of the situation.
Moreover, the Union Minister of State for Home camped here in the State for 25 days.
The Central Government appointed a Secu- rity Advisor and sent a new Chief Secretary and a new DGP.
Thus the Central Government did everything to protect people's lives and their properties, Biren claimed.
Even though both the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister gave their statements on the Manipur crisis in Parliament, a fabricated propa- ganda was circulated saying that the Prime Minister was not saying anything on the Manipur crisis.
The Congress party and its allies even boycotted the Parliament and made all attempts to suppress BJP, he said.
The elections are quite close.
BJP workers should no longer remain silent, he said.
"Instead of asking others, we should ask ourselves why we should remain silent and what wrongs have we done.
By then, we will receive a god-given answer.
"Depending on that answer, we must work.
In doing so, nobody will be able to defeat us", Biren stated.
He also conveyed gratitude to all the party workers, Ministers, MLAs, Meira Paibis, CSOs and village volunteers who helped the Government during the violent crisis.
