RIMS, others observe World Health Day

RIMS, Imphal observed World Health Day on the theme 'My health, my right' at its Jubilee Hall on Sunday.
As part of the event, a painting competition was held, with 560 students participating.
During his speech as the chief guest RIMS director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma urged everyone to avoid neglecting their health and to view staying healthy as a right.
Aside from RIMS offering health care services to the public, organising painting competitions for school students was a right step to instil the importance of World Health Day observance in the young minds, he added.
Prof N Sanjib Singh, medical superintendent RIMS Hospital, thanked the RIMS director for encouraging Swachhta Action Plan Team to organise various Swachhta activities to keep the campus clean, and parents and students for their participation in the painting competition, which raised awareness about World Health Day and its importance.
During the competition, Prof Y Govindaraj Singh, nodal officer, Kaya Kalp/ SAP, RIMS Hospital, nursing officer RIMS Hospital Imphal, and Kh Pampak, clinical psychologist RIMS Imphal, delivered talks on 'My health, my right', 'Hand hygiene and summer illness', and 'Stress Management' .
Later, the RIMS director and medical superintendent distributed cash rewards and certificates to the winners of the painting competition.
Seram Arithoi of Shishu Nishtha Niketan, Seram Jashita of Nongpok Maheikon and Sagolsem Purel Mangang secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in Category-I, while Angela Heikrujam, Sunaina Saikhom and Pheedam Sinam finished first, second and third in the Category -II .
Consolation prizes were also distributed to the students.
The programme was attended by RK Mecolt Singh, deputy director (Admn) RIMS, Sairem Sarat Singh, CAO/FA RIMS, HODs, nursing officials, faculty members and staff of RIMS.
Senior Citizen Society, Khundrakpam AC also observed World Health Day 2024 at Royal Academy of Manipur (RAM), Pangei Bazar on Sunday.
As per a release, the programme was attended by Khundrakpam assembly constituency former BJP candidate S Shyamkishore Singh as chief guest, Society president Khangembam Rojendra Singh as president and heart surgeon Dr Kshetrimayum Kala Singh as guest of honour.
As part of the observance, a free medical camp was also organised which benefitted around 100 persons.
World Health Day cum awareness campaign on 'Work For Humanity Group, Project 'G" under World Health Organisation (WHO) was also observed at Paree Imom Sindam Shang on Sunday.
The observance themed 'My Health, My Right' was attended by Health Services paediatrician Laishram Cindy, Paree Imom principal S Memcha Chanu and project 'G' board committee member Longjam Samson as the presidium members.
