Bishnupur, April 07 2024:
Nambol Bazar vendors staged a protest demonstration opposing Union Amit Shah's probable visit to the State ahead of the 18th Lok Sabha Election 2024 after allegedly ignoring the plight of the citizens for months.
Speaking by the sideline of the demonstration, a protestor by the name of H Kunjalata Devi stated that the Union Home Minister's "opportunistic" visit to the State in connection with the MP election is a mockery of the people's suffering.
From the very beginning, the public have made countless appeals to both the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister to address the restive situation and visit Manipur to tackle the crisis on the ground.
In addition, MLAs, CSOs and many others from the State visited New Delhi to stage protests and tried to seek an audience with the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister but were largely ignored, she maintained.
She expressed strong opposition to Amit Shah's possible visit to the State while adding that the people have suffered for months on end and the Central leadership have failed to resolve the protracted crisis.
During the protest the vendors raised slogans such as "Don't be an opportunist during election season" among others.
