CM hard-sells achievements of Govt, BJP at convention
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, April 07 2024: Maintaining that one group is speaking of removing BJP government and separate administration while another is scheming to replace the BJP government to provide administrative facilities, chief minister N Biren has called upon the people of the state to be wary of forces challenging the integrity of the state.

Addressing a youth convention of BJP Manipur Pradesh held at Thambal Shanglen here on Sunday, Biren said that the party workers need to make aware what is said in the manifesto of a political party to each and every households of the state.

The promise made in the manifesto of the party has no difference with the demands of a group.

It seems there is a collusion between these two groups which the people need to protect themselves from such forces in advance.

BJP had already started border fencing and biometric capturing of illegal immigrants in the line with NRC.

On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi of Congress is opposing NRC.

People need to understand the difference as BJP is going on the path of protecting the country, the chief minister said.

He maintained that since the crisis broke out on May 3, his government gave up all political activities and put full focus on governance.

People are well aware of the stand the government took and how the party stood for the government.

This is a crucial period of time in the history of the state and it requires a united stand by the people, he said while thanking CSOs, Meira Paibi organisations and village volunteers for their contribution during the crisis.

Acknowledging the contribution made by media in restoring peace, Biren urged the media to be responsible in publishing news so that the fragile environment is not disturbed, especially when peace has finally returned to the state.

It is time to focus on bringing normalcy instead of creating panic by presenting newspapers or news channels as a crime scene, he suggested.

As election draws closer, .

the CM said, there is no reason for the party workers to feel discouraged but ask themselves instead of others what wrong they have done, if any, and it will give them power.

At the same time, the party workers should also learn to solicit opinions of others and make their own decision, he advised the BJP workers.

Charging some sections of the society of blowing out of proportion a trivial matter, Biren said that union home minister Amit Shah had stationed in the state for three days in the initial stage of the crisis, and also sent several high level officials for the welfare and security of the people.

PM Modi also gave his statement in the Parliament but they alleged the PM of remaining silent.

He could have reacted against those allegation at that time but did not because of the crisis, Biren reasoned.

Recounting that BJP was insulted in the Parliament over the viral video of nude parade of two young women while none mentioned about role of the Meira Paibi members in rescuing the two victims and covering them with clothes, the CM cautioned all concerned that it was a Meetei, who shot the video and also a Meetei who circulated the same without thinking twice about tarnishing image of the community.

Stating that he would have appreciated had the person also showed the rescue act by Meira Paibi members, the CM thanked those women for standing up against the crime.

Biren further said that the election this time is a crucial one as the indigenous people of the state are on the crossroad of an existential threat.

Union home minister suspended and suggested scrapping of FMR to check influx of illegal immigrants.

Now the question to the people is whether they should support BJP, which had started biometric capturing of illegal immigrants, or Congress, which is against identification of illegal immigrants.

The government used drones and helicopter to destroy poppy farms.

Interestingly, there are some people who criticise the one that actually Use helicopter to destroy poppy farms and hail the one who made plain promises of bringing helicopter, he said.

Biren then asked the party workers, espe cially the youths to go from door to door and inform the people about the activities taken up by the government to protect the state.

The election is being fought amid the crisis and this should not be turned into a festival but made an issue-based election, he contended.

In his address, power minister Th Biswajit said that around 65 per cent of the total population of the country are youths.

People should ask Congress if they would agree to disintegrate the state, which was defended by the forefathers for centuries.

BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda, secretary organisation Abhay Giri, Manipur election in-charge Ajit Guptacharya and other party leaders also attended the youth convention.
