Imphal, February 19 2024:
Forum for Restoration of Peace, Manipur (FRPM) has appealed to the state government to set up a committee or forum to hold peace dialogue and bring an end to the prevailing conflict to the state.
Speaking at a magazine release function at Manipur Press Club here Monday, Forum convenor Ashang Kasar observed that people in both the hills and valley are suffering immensely as the conflict continues to rage for over nine months.
There have been reports of many unfortunate incidents occurring during the conflict such as attacking and grabbing of vehicles, cash, physical assaults and others, exacerbating the situation not to mention about viral video clips of such situations further fanning the flames of mistrust, hatred and disharmony.
All of these are also diluting efforts of various CSOs and groups in bringing peace and harmony to the state, he remarked.
Ashang continued that the Forum has been striving to restore peace and normalcy in the state, not because of some fame or money, but out of love for the land we all live in.
He then urged all to stop all anti-peace activities and instead make concerted efforts to restore normalcy and harmony in Manipur, while leaving behind all enmity so as to usher in a new Manipur.
