PNU condemns

The Poumai Naga Union (PNU) has condemned the incidents of firing at Phyapou village and physical assault of Naga truck drivers and helpers on February 16 .
Condemning the atrocities meted out to its community members by the conflicting communities, a press statement released by the PNU has condemned the incident of February 16 wherein automatic weapons were fired from the direction of J Songtung Kuki village which hit and pierced through the roof of a resident of Phyapou village (Poumai Naga village) .
This rampant and blatant act has seriously threatened the Poumai community, PNU said.
Further, PNU has also condemned the physical assault perpetrated on Naga truck drivers, helpers and associates namely Th Paul Pavei, Ng M Hrapu, A Payio and Sanjay Khadkar on the night of February 16 at Sekmai.
Stating that the assault and looting at gunpoint cannot be tolerated, PNU has urged the responsible authority to take swift and punitive action against the perpetrators.
Adding that the Poumai community yearns for peace in the State, PNU has encouraged other communities to create a peaceful environment.
