DMU students protest Govt apathy

Voicing disappointment over alleged indifferent attitude of authority concerned their demands for conducting election of students' union and recruitment of deans, stu dents of DM University protested by burning logs and timbers at the A Block of the varsity, here, on Monday.
Speaking to reporters on the side-lines of the agitation, DMU student Kshetrimayum Medhajit pointed out that the students have been urging authority concerned along with submitting memorandum to the education minister, commissioner and other high-ranking officials of departments concerned to conduct the pending election of students' union and recruit of deans of the university.
However, as hone of the officials including the minister concerned have issued relevant orders and notifications, the students are in a dilemma as to whom to approach to address their grievances.
As such to draw the attention of authority concerned, the students came to meet the VC and the Registrar, on Monday but both were found to be out of station, he said, adding that if the union election is not conducted, the students will continue to boycott the VC and the Registrar apart from launching agitations.
