Governor lauds military discipline of Sainik School students

While inaugurating a new auditorium of Sainik School, Imphal dedicated Indian army's captain Vikram Batra at its Pangei campus, Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Monday hailed the students of the School, who are addressed as cadets, for their special military discipline.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor pointed out that education plays a significant role in the development of a nation.
Stressing on the role of teachers in moulding the students into educated and ideal individuals which would ultimately help lay the foundation for a progressive society, the Governor pointed out that through education, students not only acquire knowledge but also have sense of morality and culture and understand Indian values.
Governor Uikey conveyed that Sainik School, Imphal established in 1971 is today one of the reputed institutions of the country due to efforts of the school authorities.
Noting that main objective of establishing Sainik Schools is to prepare students academically and physically for entry into National Defence Academy and similar military institutions, she commended the student cadets of Sainik School for their special military discipline and their remarkable tal ents as more attention is given to the all-round development of students.
The school has produced more than 300 capable and brave officers for the Army, Navy since its inception, she acknowledged, adding that officers who passed out from the school have shown their bravery and intelligence in the Galwan valley against the Chinese Army.
Highlighting the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021, for providing girl students opportunity to study in the Sainik Schools, she expressed firm believe that such initiative will provide platform for the girl cadets to demonstrate their ability in national defence and show their competency by equally participating in other trainings.
The Governor also mentioned the notable achievements of the students of Sainik School Imphal which include 14 cadets getting scholarship under Deendayal Sparsh Yojana', representation and performance of cadets of the school in Subroto Cup tournament.
The Governor then appealed to all the cadets to keep working hard even in the most difficult circumstances and contribute significantly in making India a developed country.
The Governor also attended a luncheon with 540 cadets and staffers of Sainik School, inspected the girls' hostel as well as reviewed the progress of under construction building, planted a tree and released a souvenir.
Group captain Rajneesh Kumar, Sainik School principal lieutenant colonel Satish Kumar, deputy principal and squadron leader LR Jote, administrative officer N Kulkarani Devi, Planning Department director, teachers and students of the school were present on the occasion.
