Eid-ul-Adha celebrated

United Peacemaking Organisation Manipur (UPO), Meitei Pangal Cultural Organisation Manipur (MEPCOM) and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Manipur (JEIM) today jointly celebrated Eid-Ul-Adha with people displaced by the present unrest at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Konungmamang.
It was attended by UPO Manipur president Haji Tayeb Ali Singa, MEPCOM president Hayatur Rahaman Yumkhaibam and JEIM president Abdul Halim Fundrei as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Haji Tayeb Ali Singa shared that unlike the past, the sacred festival of Muslim community Eid-ul-Adha was celebrated in a simple manner this year considering the prevailing situation of Manipur.
"This year, the organisations came together to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha with the people who have been displaced by the present unrest and are taking shelter in relief camps", he added.
He appealed to the State and Central Government to take immediate action to bring an end to the violence and restore peace & normalcy in the State.
Haji Tayeb Ali Singa also reiterated various demands such as, "No separate administration in Manipur", "Implement NRC in Manipur", "Rein-in Kuki militants", "We want peace", etc.
Similarly, the Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) also celebrated Eid-ul-Adha today at the Masjid located near Friends Colony, Mantripukhri.
As part of the celebrations, many prayed to Allah for restoration of peace & normalcy in the State.
A two minute silence was also observed to pay respect to the brave heroes who laid down their lives for the motherland during the ongoing conflict.
Later, a large number of people formed human chains and shouted such as, "Safeguard the integrity of Manipur", "No separate administration in Manipur", "Long live Manipur", etc.
Speaking to the media, MMWO president Boboi Korimayum extended his warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha and prayed for restoration of peace & harmony in the State.
He also expressed disappointment over the failure of the Central and State Government to end the violence in Manipur even after 50 days since the conflict broke out on May 3 last.
Boboi further appealed to the State and Central Government to take immediate action to bring back normalcy in Manipur at the earliest.
