Imphal, September 05 2026: Left Coordination Committee Manipur has urged the State Government to call an all political party meeting to discuss the public demand for NRC and hammer out an acceptable base year for the exercise.

Speaking to reporters at the Irawat Bhawan Imphal, the committee's chairman L Sotinkumar said that the NRC must be updated based on a base year.

The Government must therefore call an all political party meeting to discuss the matters related to the base year and other issues facing the State.

If the Government is not willing to call the meeting, the Left parties will call the meeting, and the representatives of the parties will go to Delhi and put pressure on the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister to update the NRC as per the wishes of the people, he said.

Sotinkumar also commented on the prevailing situation in Manipur and alleged that the Government has failed to contain violence and take concrete steps to safeguard and protect the State's integrity.
