Imphal, December 22 2010: A PLA cadre, suspected to be the financial secretary of the banned outfit in Jiribam and Cachar area, was among the 12 underground activists nabbed by security forces and police commandos in separate counter insurgency operations.

The PLA cadre, Self Styled Lieutenant Meisnam Pramud Singh alias Johny was apprehended from Kamaranga area of Jiribam subdivision of Imphal East district by troops of 22 Assam Rifles of 57 Mountain Artillery Brigade of the Red Shield Division yesterday.

He has been handed over to the police station Jiribam on the same day, said a statement of the PIB (Defense Wing), Imphal adding that he is suspected to be the financial secretary of the banned outfit in Jiribam and Cachar area.

A PREPAK Over-ground Worker (OGW) identified as Chourjit Meitei of Sorok Atingbi, Hillghat, Jiribam was also apprehended on December 19.A mobile phone containing several message related with recruitment was recovered from the individual.

Troops of 33 Assam Rifles of Logtak Brigade under Red Shield Division along with 27 Assam Rifles apprehended a KCP (MC)-Lamyanba Khuman faction activist identified as Wangkhem Indiya Singh (49) of Ithai Khunau Mamang Leikai today.

The same joint team also apprehended a PREPAK identified Achom Geet Chandra Singh alias Abung (27) of Ithai Bazar Maning Leikai.

They were active members of KCP (MC) and PREPAK outfits and were involved in recruitment, tax collection and extortion for the terrorist outfit from Ithai Bazar Maning Leikai.

They have been handed over to Thoubal Police Station, the statement added.

Imphal East Police Commandos also apprehended four activists, three PREPAK and one PULF, from different places yesterday, said a statement of the Imphal East SP, Th Radheshyam today.

The three PREPAK cadres arrested from Urup Arapti at 8.30 am were identified as Konsam Momen (42) son of late K Tomba, Konsam Nando (32) son of K Amu and Takhellambam Laingam (29), all from Arapti Mamang Leikai.

The PULF activist identified as Md Faruk Khan @ Lucky (25) son of Md Babu Khan of Kshetri Awang Leikai was arrested from Sanjenthong area with a demand letter of PULF (Azad) address to director Horticulture and Soil Conservation on the same day, the statement added.

Two activists of KCP(MC) were also nabbed by the Imphal West Police Commandos from Keishampat Thoubal Bus parking yesterday at 5.30 pm.

They were identified as Ngairangbam Chingkheihunba @ Boy @ Malem @ Moramba (28) son of Ng Ibotomba of Yourbung Mayai Leikai and Md Achouba A Alam Khan (21) son of Md Jumakhan of Khabeisoi 7th MR gate, said a statement of the Imphal West Senior SP.

Further, Thoubal Police Commandos in a joint operation with troops of 27 Assam Rifles and 33 Assam Rifles apprehended two UG activists, one each of PREPAK and KCP(MC) today around 4.30 am from Nongmaikhong Kompuk area.

A statement of the Thoubal Senior SP, Clay Khongsai identified the arrested PREPAK activists as Achom Abung @ Geetchandra son of A Manimohon of Ithai Bazar Maning Leikai and the KCP(MC) as Wangkhem India (49) of late Manikekchand of Ithai Khuman Mamang Leikai.
