The 2nd Apex Crafts Bazar organized by the Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicrafts Artisans Cooperative Society Limited under the aegis of Ministry of Textile, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), government of India began today at Lainingthou Puthiba Complex, Khurai Lamlong Bazar.
Principal Secretary, Commerce and Industries, O Nabakishore, Addl Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Joel Luikham, Assistant Director, Ministry of Textile and Development Commissioner, Marketing and Service Extension Centre, Imphal T Rollee Vareishim were the guests of honour.
In a speech, Nabakishore said that the handloom and handicraft products of the state are envied by the people of all over the world.
Improvement in design and quality of the products is very important to develop the handloom products in the world market.
One should think of the market area where the product will be selling, before introducing any new designs.
Government has its scheme to help those persons who need more infrastructures for the development and improvement of such products.
However, the artisans are seemed to be unaware of the various schemes of the government.
Nabakishore said that they should discuss with the government officials to avail the different schemes for them.
He also appealed to the organizers of various handloom and handicrafts exhibitions to create awareness among the artisans of the state.
A total of 150 stalls from all over the state are displaying their products in the exhibition.
The exhibition will conclude on December 31 .
