While discussing the deaths of patients in RIMS Hospital due to alleged negligence by the RIMS doctors in discharging their duties, Chief Minister, O Ibobi today assured that the matter will be brought upto to the knowledge of the level of the Prime Minister and the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare.
During the calling attention hour of the House, opposition members, O Joy and Ng Bijoy of MPP brought up the matter of death of patients in RIMS Hospital due to alleged negligence and also the poor infrastructure drawing the attention of the Chief Minister even though the Hospital is run by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry.
In reply to the calling attention, Chief Minister, O Ibobi said that government has noted the matter and will bring the matter to the knowledge of the Prime Minister and the Union Health and Family Welfare for their personal intervention in the functioning of RIMS Hospital.
The CM asserted that a doctor cannot prevent a natural death but dereliction in discharging duty is simply not acceptable.
There have been many instances of patients and their parties who have quarreled with doctors over alleged negligence in their duty.
Doctors in RIMS must understand that the state government will intervene if dereliction of duty has been established.
O Joy, while informing the House about the doctors' negligence, produced an enquiry report of his son's death in the hospital to prove the charges levelled against RIMS doctors.
