With the skies of Ukhrul crystal clear albeit cooler nights, there is an air of expectation and hope as the much awaited and most auspicious occasion of the Christians is knocking at the doors.
December is by and large the best month of the year for many children, teenagers, adults and octogenarians in this picturesque town and everybody is geared up for celebrating Chirstmas.
As the year nears the end and the festive season sets in Ukhrulites are once again in a festive mood with various event of advent Christmas already on at many churches in and around the Town.
A unique feature of this year's celebration would be a joint Christmass with participation of all the denominations under the aegis of 'Ukhrul Town Inter-Denomination Christmas Celebration Committee (UTICCC), a first in the history of Tangkhul Christians.
The coalesce Christmas festival and come together-celebration is scheduled to be held on December 30 at Ukhrul Town and is expected to be the largest "Christmas" congregation ever celebrated in the era of the Tangkhul Christians.
The committee also conveyed greetings to every one and wished that this year's celebration ushers 'Peace on earth' and with the spirit of oneness and reconciliation through 'forgiveness' amongst all the communities irrespective of cast, colour or religion.
The organizing committee also reminded that whether poor or rich, small or big everyone is the same in the eye of God, and Christmas is a time to forgive and forget.
Meanwhile, the Christmas shoppers in town have been increasing day by day with almost all the villagers of the district pouring in to town.
