DESAM close down another Nursing Institute

Imphal, December 22 2010: The Democratic Students' Alliance Manipur (DESAM) today announced closure of another nursing institute, the National Rural Health Guide and Research Treatment Centre, luring students with false promises of providing jobs.

The students body charged the nursing institute of swindling a huge amount of money from girl students on the pretext of false promises of village health guide jobs.

Briefing reporters at its headoffice, DESAM's vice president, Wangmayum Islauddin reveals that the insistute is run by a registered NGO, Social Health Workers' Organisation and have collected around Rs 4.30 lakhs from 450 students on the pretext of providing jobs as village health guides.

They collected Rs 950 from each student first and Rs 550 each against after completion of two month's training for another six months' training.

They further collected Rs 5000 each from 29 students for ANM course and Rs 1250 each for form fill up fees for the annual examination.

They used the name of S Kumar Nursing Institute, another unregistered institute for the annual examination.

S Kumar Nursing Institute was also given a deadline of three days after they failed to issue admit cards to its students.

Moreover, the NGO collected around Rs 43000 from 42 persons on the pretext of providing jobs of tutor in their institute.

They had collected amount of Rs 3000 to Rs 20000 from a person for the job of tutor.
