The much awaited final match of the 54th CC Meet will be played between Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU), Kwakeithel and Lajong Football Club (FC Lajong), Shillong tomorrow at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Imphal at 1.30 pm.
The All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) is organizing the tournament which is one of the biggest and oldest tournaments in North East India.
The Manipur State Aids Control Society (MACS) is sponsoring the tournament.
First timer, FC Lajong who have been relegated from the I league this season is all geared up to win the winner's trophy.
They have been studiously observing tactics of their opponent TRAU.
On the other hand, defending champion TRAU is fighting fit to meet FC Lajong for the winner's trophy.
TRAU coach Surmani, a renowned football player of the yester years, said that the owner of the CC Meet trophy is Manipur and it should remain here.
His team will not let any outsiders to wrest the trophy from them.
They will give their utmost to defend the honour of the state in the finals.
He said although FC Lajong is a good team, TRAU will not face much difficulty in tackling them.
He claimed that he has studied the playing patterns of FC Lajong very well and that his team will play the finals with their usual strategies.
Since the match will not be an easy one, experienced strikers will be given more chances to home in goals.
On the other hand, Liberian national James Giblee of FC Lajong burdened by a yellow card is waiting eagerly to play the finals against TRAU.
Thousands of football fans in the state are eagerly waiting to witness the skills of James Giblee and his team.
Football fans in thousands will gather in Khuman Lampak Main Stadium to witness the historic match between FC Lajong and TRAU.
Tickets have been sold in different places by the AMFA for the final match.
The state government has also announced a half holiday for the final match.
All India Radio Imphal will relay a live commentary of the match.
Assistant Coach, Birendra Thapa of FC Lajong said that he and his team have come here to win the winner's trophy.
His team will take the trophy to Shillong as a Christmas gift.
It is still not officially confirmed who will play in the first eleven of FC Lajong tomorrow.
But he said that he will give more focus to the midfielders in the final match.
He also said that he has studied Tiken, Lunmilai Khongsai and Herojit of TRAU very carefully.
He said James Giblee will play the final match tomorrow.
Different awards will also be distributed tomorrow.
AFC 'B' licensed Maniratan was declared best coach of the year.
The title for best male footballer went to I Nilakumar of MPSC while Y Kamala of NYTHC won the best female footballer's title.
AMFA will also honour one time footballers Th Ibotombi of Khurai, Chaoba Kabui of Keikhu and Y Kamarlal of Khongman during the valedictory function.
