Indigenous Day to be held on Oct 6

The Federation of Haomee (FoH) has announced that it will be observing Manipur Indigenous Day on October 6 .
Speaking to media persons at Kabo Leikai, Dewlahland today, FoH president Sapamcha Jadu-mani said that the Manipur Indigenous Day will commemorate the erection of a memorial pillar representing 25 communities of Manipur which have Yek-Salai system at Sawombung Kabui Khunjao on October 6, 2025 .
Even as illegal immigrants have been waging a war of aggression since May 3, 2023 and killing indigenous people, local politicians have no intention to identify illegal immigrants for fear of losing their vote banks, Jadumani said.
He said that safeguarding Manipur should start with protection of its indigenous people and their rights.
He appealed to all indigenous people to attend the Manipur Indigenous Day scheduled for October 6 .
