Imphal, October 03 2026:
State Government spokesman and MLA Dr Sapam Ranjan has stated that the State Government has been working hard to fulfil the demands of Campaign for Just and Fair Delimitation (JFD) as listed in their memorandum.
Speaking to media persons at his Konthoujam residence today, Dr Ranjan said that there is complete consonance and no difference between the State Government's position and the demands of JFD and the people on the issue of illegal immigrants.
After the Central Government has deferred the house listing work which is an important part of the census exercise, the State Government has been working to impress the JFD's demands upon the Government of India, he said.

Calling for support to the Government's efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the State, the Government spokesman appealed to all sections of society to refrain from imposing bandhs and blockades.
Notably, the JFD, in its memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, was demanding deferment of both house listing and population enumeration works, adoption of 1951 as the base year for identifying illegal immigrants, enactment of a State Population Policy, empowerment of State Population Commission and publication of a white paper on migration.
Meanwhile, the JFD Women Wing carried on its signature campaign and visited three more MLAs today.
Volunteers of JFD Women Wing visited MLAs Thangjam Arunkumar (Wangkhei AC), Kongkham Robindro (Mayang Imphal AC) and Thongam Shanti Singh (Moirang AC) and submitted a five-point memorandum to the MLAs.
In addition to the memorandum, the JFD Women Wing submitted a written declaration which pledges unstinted support to the JFD's movement to keep census operations at bay until and unless illegal immigrants are identified by way of updating the NRC with 1951 as the base year.
According to a press release issued by the JFD Women Wing, the three MLAs not only expressed support to the JFD's movement but also appended their signatures on the written declaration.
