Imphal, October 04 2026:
The All Manipur Students Guardians' Organisation (AMSGO) has expressed support to the call given by the COCOMI and other CSOs to boycott Manipur Sangai Festival 2026 .
A statement issued by AMSGO pointed out that the war of aggression launched by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists on May 3, 2023 targeting indigenous Meitei people with a sinister motive to fragment Manipur led to the killing of many innocent people and displacement of over 60,000 people.
Now, Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists are attacking and killing indigenous Naga people.
It is rather surprising that the Government, instead of working to bring an end to the sustained war of aggression, has been preparing for Manipur Sangai Festival 2026, AMGSO remarked.
It said that the Government must focus on restoring peace and normalcy in the State instead of busying itself in preparing for Manipur Sangai Festival.
Sangai Festival can be held several times later, the priority must be neutralising the threats faced by indigenous people.
The State Government's decision to hold Manipur Sangai Festival when the State is literally burning is hard to comprehend.
Holding Manipur Sangai Festival under the prevailing situation will prove to be insulting to the families of those victims killed in the prolonged violence and the displaced people, it said.
AMSGO urged the Government to give priority to ending the violence and resettlement of the displaced families.
