Imphal, August 06 2023:
United Tai Ethnic Socio-cultural Organisation (UTESCO) has appealed to the President of India to make a benign intervention in the Manipur Crisis and bring an end to this imbroglio for the good of the people of Manipur in particular and for India in general.
In a letter addressed to the President of India, UTESCO sought the kind attention of the President to the crisis in Manipur which has been continuing for more than two month now.
The organisation shared that death in hundreds and displacement in thousands make the situation a real tragedy of humanity.
"It appears from various media reports that a civil war' like situation prevails in the border state of Manipur and both the state and the Central Government fail to contain the fire.
What is more painful to witness is the unethical politicisation of this crisis by a section of people and adding fuel to the fire", it added.
"We earnestly hope that the crisis shall be solved forever only with Your Excellency's timely intervention", it added.
Notably, UTESCO is a common platform of all Tai communities residing in various States of the North Eastern Region of India.
