Imphal, August 06 2023:
While asserting that intermittent looting of armouries of state forces and the subsequent attacks substantiate lawlessness and anarchy in the state, Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) said that the Government of India (GOI) must act decisively and promptly before the beleaguered state is plunged into a complete anarchy.
Deeply concerned over intermittent looting of armouries of state forces particularly the latest looting of IRB headquarters in Bishnupur, KIM said all cases have been executed without any restraint from the police/ security agencies.
With all the looted arms and weapons in their possession, the Meeteis crossed the buffer zones and carried out offensive attacks on the Kukis on August 5, which resulted in a considerable number of casualties with as many as four Kuki-Zo village volunteers dead and seven others injured.
According to a KIM statement, the Central government and the Ministry of Home Affairs must indicate what preventative measures and security review measures have they put in place to make sure that the remaining armouries in the state are impregnable in view of the fact that Meeteis will stop at nothing to access them.
It also said that the Meetei people and their 'sponsors' must be stopped, arrested and all the looted weapons recovered as well as be made to face prosecution.
