Imphal, August 06 2023:
The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has announced social boycott of the State Government following its failure to convene a special session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly by August 5.
Notably, a mega public rally organised by COCOMI against Chin-Kuki narco-terrorism at Imphal on July 29 resolved that the State Government should convene a special session of the State Assembly by August 5 .
Other resolutions adopted at the mega rally included rejection of the demand for creation of separate administration within Manipur and updation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) with respect to Manipur.

Speaking to media persons at the Lamphelpat office of UCM today, COCOMI Coordinator Jeetendra Ningomba decried that the State Government is not honouring the resolutions adopted by lakhs of people as indicated by their failure to convene a special session of the State Assembly till today.
As a result, the COCOMI, after consultation with the masses, decided to impose social boycott against the State Government, Jeetendra said.
He then appealed to the State Government not to cooperate with any activity of the State Government.
It is a matter of grave concern that a particular community directed their MLAs to abstain from attending the proposed special session of the State Assembly at a time when all the people are suffering extreme misery on account of the protracted unrest, he said.
Taking serious note of the murder of three sleeping men inside their homes at Kwakta Ward No 8 by Kuki militants yesterday and razing around 100 Meitei houses by Kuki-Zo people at Torbung Bangla, the COCOMI Coordinator questioned how the Kuki militants managed to sneak into Kwakta Ward No 8, killed the sleeping men and razed Meitei houses at Torbung Bangla after crossing a buffer zone guarded by Assam Rifles and other Central forces.
He decried that the Central forces deployed in the State in the name of protecting innocent citizens have failed miserably to check criminal activities of militants.
He said that the Meitei people should stop expecting help from any quarter but they prepare to defend themselves.
