Senapati, August 06 2023:
United Naga Council (UNC) will organise a mass rally on August 9 from 10 am in all Naga areas of Manipur to demand early settlement of the Indo-Naga political issue based on the Framework Agreement.
In a statement issued by its publicity wing on Sunday, UNC said that the mass rally will be held in Tamenglong, Chandel, Ukhrul and Senapati district headquarters.
Informing that the Indo-Naga peace process has made significant progress with signing of the historic Framework Agreement be tween the government of India and National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) on August 3, 2015, UNC said that the in ordinate delay in signing the final agreement is a cause for concern and has the potential to derail the peace negotiation.
Meanwhile, UNC general secretary Vareiyo Shatsang told media persons at Senapati that rally aims to register collective sentiment to the government of India for exercising political will to hammer out an early negotiated solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political issue as per the Framework Agreement and to usher in an enduring peace in Naga areas in particular and the Northeast in general.
The UNC also appealed to all the Naga citizens to participate in the rally.
