GMF condemns Kwakta killing

Strongly condemning the brutal murder of three innocent Meeteis by Kuki militants while they were sleeping at homes on August 5 at Kwakta, Global Manipur Federation (GMF) demanded swift and impartial justice for the innocent victims and their grieving families.
The GMF also called upon the international community to acknowledge the gravity of the heinous crime.
According to a statement of GMF, the Kwakta incident highlights a critical lapse in security measures necessitating thorough investigation to hold those responsible accountable.
A careful examination of actions of security force concerned is essential to rebuild trust and confidence among the affected communities and safeguard the protection of human rights.
It also said that reported failure of 9 Assam Rifles to prevent such acts of violence should be investigated.
While highlighting incidences of Kuki militants targeting civilians, the GMF called for an immediate review of Kuki militants' role in the ongoing strife in Manipur including the cleansing of Meeteis from Moreh and Churachandpur.
While stating that escalating conflict between the Meetei and Kuki communities merits immediate attention and resolution from all stakeholders, the GMF urged all concerned parties and stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue, respect human rights and work towards a lasting resolution that promotes peace, harmony and unity among the diverse communities in Manipur.
