Imphal, August 06 2023:
The People Protection Committee (PPC), Konthoujam has condemned in the strongest term the murder of three innocent Meetei people at Kwakta Ward No 8, Bishnupur district in the wee hours of Saturday by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists and shared the pain of the bereaved families.
"Law agencies, Central Para military Forces and State Forces are relentless in firing tear gas, smoke bombs, etc against the Meetei village volunteers and Meira Paibis who are camping day & night to defend their villages from Narco Terrorists, but they are toothless against the Kukis who have been given free reign in the hills and periphery areas of the valley to do anything, kill anyone without any regard for the law", said PPC in a release.
Alleging that the Central Forces has shown no restraint against the Meetei Meira Paibis, PPC asked, "Why is Prime Minister Narendra Modi who claims to hold women with high regard silent to all the atrocities committed by Indian Para Military Forces and Assam Rifles against the Meetei Meira Paibis" .
The Committee also appealed to the Central and State Government to maintain law & order in the hills same as the valley and apprehend the culprits who were involved in the brutal & barbaric murder of three innocent Meetei civilians at Kwakta and award befitting punishment as per the law at the earliest.
PPC further urged the State Government to convene an Emergency Assembly Session to take resolution on the issues of Separate Administration, protection of Manipur's territorial integrity and implementation of NRC before the conclusion of the Parliament's Monsoon Session.
